Coast road trip north to SF and Point Reyes

Again it's one of the road trips I had been thinking of doing for a while. Maurice, Rae and I hit on the road on Thursday night. The route is as follows: OC-Pismo beach-Big Sur-Half moon bay-SF-Point Reyes-back.
On first night, we camped at North beach campground of Pismo Beach. It was drizzling on Friday morning. We took a walk along the gloomy beach ( I was at the beach 4 years ago. It was as gloomy!)before we rolled on the road again. The weather cleared out by the time we got to Big Sur. At Big Sur, we took a nice and scenic 6 miles hike " Edwolsen" The little sweet hike trail loop took us through redwoods, forests, streams to the cliff overlooking the gorgeous coastlines and all the way back around the moutains with an open view of oceans! Big Sur is where land meets sea. After the hike, we kept driving up north and ended up camping on the half moon bay beach. It was not an ideal camp ground given the big crowd and cramped space between camp grounds. We still felt lucky though to get a spot without any reservations. Camp fire, booze, campfire talk and my little stereo made a nice night except the cold ocean breeze! It started to rain in the following morning. We wrapped up the soaky camping, hit up the road and drove all the way to SF. We checked ourselves in at a Hostel at downtown of SF. After check in, we strolled through the town. We stopped at Fisherman's Warf for clam chowder and walked through the Market street. On that night, we went out to a gay bar "Badlands" at Castro. It was an interesting experience for me.
On Sunday morning, we headed over the the "Point Reyes" national park. Point Reyes seashore is located between Pacific Ocean and Tomale Bay and it offers beautiful coastlines, grasslands, lighthouse, beaches and forests. We met Rae's friends Flynn and Holy for a nice 10 miles hike to " Tomale Point". It is one the most easy and scenic hiking trails I've ever taken! Along the trail, we marched on a long and narrow grasstrail and we saw Tule Elks at their reserved home and massive yellow wild flowers. The end of the trail is rugged coast. It started to rain when we came back to our car. When we drove out of the Tomale area, the weather became clear. We camped at a private camp ground at Olema-another super crowded camp groud.
We headed back to SoCal after we checked out the lighthouse and Point Reye's North and South beach on the following morning. The traffic was a lot smoother than expected on the way back.
It is a great and lucky trip. Without much of scheduling and reservations, we went on the trip with a spirit of " going with the flow". It turned out we didn't really encounter any difficulties from holiday traveling. Maurice, Rae and I all get along and had a great time! Again, good companies, scenic nature and fun activities made it a wonderful journey.
