I continued my morning walk tour around the Garden District. It became one of my favorite things in New Orleans! I had a breakfast at Trolley Stop Cafe where local working class hang out. I was absolutely the only tourist when I walked in! I chatted with a gal who came over here from Long Beach a year ago on a Katrina volunteering mission. He told me that his camera was robbed and his car was stolen and his kids are in a shitty school and that he can't wait to go back to California.
Glenn and I drove all over New Orleans and the outside of New Orleans. We went to East New Orleans and South East of town, the most flooded areas when Levee broke. Lots of abandoned houses, lots, wrecks of boats, vehicles. Some areas are completely deserted as a whole!
That night I watched a live classic Jazz show at Preservation Hall. I like it! When I was sitting in the little dark packed room which is extremely plain with a few Jazz pictures on the wall and a whole bunch of benches where the audiences cramped, I feel I'm really "in "New Orleans. The show was really good!
