New Orleans is still a relatively dangerous town for tourists with a high crime rate. I took a morning walk around the Garden District neighborhood. Garden District is a historic residential area surrounded by lots of over 100 years' old houses. I was told some streets of this neighborhood are "not good" when I was asking direction at a traffic light.
After morning walk, we went back to French Quarter for " the best Bloody Mary in the world"! Most of bars were really empty. The girl who made us Bloody Mary told us how lame the business has been after Katrina and how difficult it is to make a living here now that the cost of living has gone up since Katrina. The Bloody Mary is great and a must try!
Pat O Brian is one of the most popular tourist bar in French Quarter and their Hurricane is great ( watch out! you get knocked out while sipping it). I don't care for the crowd that much though, 100% tourists coming for party. I don't feel to fit in the crowd. But they do have a very nice courtyard. One of biggest charms of all New Orleans' bars and restaurant that make them distinguish from a typical bar of other towns is the court yard or patio. Very appealing!
