The first day of new year! We flew out of Rio to another town-Curitiba! After the 5 days' rush in Rio and last night's party, an escape to a quiet town sounds great! Curitiba is a successful urban model in Brazil, about one hour flight south to Rio. It was afternoon when we landed. I fell in love with this town right away! It's so laid back and people are so friendly! It was super super and super quiet with all the stores closed on the holiday. We had to go back to the bus station to find an open restaurant .It was raining again when we were wandering around the cobbled historic quarter. We were pretty much the only tourists on the streets! What a contrast! We did enjoy the calm after last night's storm! One thing worth mentioning is the German salad we had that night for two reasons: reason 1, I love food and I can always remember what I eat when I'm travelling, reason 2, there is raw meat (ground beef), raw fish ( at least 10 pieces of raw fish) and at least 10 different stuff in it and a piece of soggy brown bread in the bottom! ( absolutely no kidding!) The salad name is something "international"! It does sound quite right!
