It was cloudy and sprinkling in the morning. It seems a typical summer morning in Rio. (During our stay of 5 days in Rio, only one day was completely sunny whole day. How can I miss a morning strolling at this new town despite the rain? (I'm a morning bird, but the city definitely beats me! There are tons of earlier birds already out for 2nd cup of coffee, or heading over to work, or just getting back from clubbing, or they just don't sleep!) Again, it's all about engergy! One of my favorit things at Rio is the snack/breakfast shops at the corner of streets. They are open shops with some barstools around the counter where fresh tropical juice, bakeries, breakfast and snacks are served over the counter. I love the juice! My favorite is Agcai (a kind of fruit smooth). I absolutely love the atmosphere. The only problem is to have them understand what I want or even to figure out what they have and what I want. The phrasebook doesn't help much. Most of time, I go by photo (if they have one) or look around and hope my neighbor is having something that look good and I can just point that to the waiter without knowing what on the earth they really are. It's all about trying new stuff! That's a fun part of travelling!
Martin was sick. I feel bad for him. Apparently his Swiss stomach doesn't handle Rio well. In this sense, I'm very pround of being a tough Chinese! Chinese is warrior!

We booked a city tour and Samba tour at a travel agency. Samba! LOVELY! Two things I would not miss in Rio I swear is food and Samba. We had lunch at this fun oceanfrond chopp place (chopp is beer in a chill glass) and had salad without salad dressing ( all the salad comes with oil and vinegger). The servie is fabulous. People are very friendly here to tourists. You feel you are treated much better than home. Is it wierd?
At night I went out to hang out with folks at hostel. They are mostly young travelers from all over the world. It's fun to share travelling stories with them! Yes, they all speak English. ( Feels so good that somebody understands you in the end of the day without any assistance of phrasebook or body language). Yes, they all know the TV show "OC", which I'm not sure I should feel good or bad since one guy from France joked that America spreaded the crap all over the world (he's referring to the TV show). Oh, well.... who cares. I just had a great time!
