What a journey to get to Matema beach on Lake Naeser! From Kyela I took dala dala to Ipinda and then a pick-up truck to Matemba beach. The long journey of getting to Lake Naeser made the destination more mystic and appealing. On the pickup truck, I met two girls from Finland (Paula and Anol). All three of us checked in Matemba beach and Lutheran Center and shared one bandas. It worked out perfect. The Lutheran center is the only accommodation on the beach where Jose and the two German doctors had stayed before.
It was a peaceful beach. Local villagers were doing their chores by the lake and kids were swimming. Some senior Germans were hanging out by the lake. It's a reunion event. Majestic mountains were towering in the distance. It was a hot afternoon. I did some swimming in the lake and sat on the chair on the beach. Time stopped. Everything was holding still. After 24 hours of travels, I finally reached a quiet place where I can relax and rest before I wrap up the 4 month backpacking trip.
