Plaza of Fransis

Today we are going to hike 5-6 hours to Plaza of Fransis which is the closest point to see Aconcago and hike back. Plaza of Fransis is on south side of the mountain where trekkers hike to see the summit. Real climbers take another trail to Plaza of De Mur on north side of the mountain where they start to climb. North side is easier to climb. We started hiking around 9:00am. We started at 3300 meter high and gain about 1000 meter of elevation up to Plaza of Fransis ( it's about 4300 meter high). The first 4 hours hike was quite slow and easy. The view is spectacular. We saw glaciers covered by ice and rocks, rocky mountains winding along, canyons, snow summits and mud rivers. Then we saw Aconcagua capped with snow. It seemed so close to us. Last two hours was really rush and tiring. Plaza of Fransis is really just a tiny empty lot where a little wood sign stuck on the ground. The whole mountain is just like an open book right in front of you. It looks like a picture. It's stunning!
We got back to base camp around 7:00pm. It's a long way. We were all exhausted! Our top chef served us a fancy dinner that night including appetizer, roasted chicken and cake desert. Afterwards, I had a little fun time with our dearest tour guide Mario and our hot chef dancing hip hop and tange at his little kitchen along with Argentine tones. It's a good day! I took a favorite picture today with Aconcagua in the background. I love it. It says all about me and the mountain. ( See the top)
